Kandy ISD and RED started working in five villages in Gampaha district two years ago with peace, harmony and democracy as the main focus.
Also, at the end of the two years, the supporters from this country and abroad who gave support to evaluate the success of the work done by us, participated in the observation tour for the first time in Gampaha district. The project will be implemented in all the twenty five districts of Sri Lanka and first they went on the observation tour in Gampaha district. They selected a group of fifteen randomly selected people from the target community. Today, our target community and the officials of our organization welcomed them very warmly. The members of our societies treated them with local food such as Kevum, milk rice, bananas, king coconut prepared in a traditional local way and they were also received with utmost respect.
Also, as a result of our work, the racist feelings among the villagers, who were divided after the Easter attack, have improved to some extent and the officials of the aided organization understood that the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim who participated in this event had improved their trust in each other. Also, it is clear that the peace garden, which was carried out with the help of ISD, is being done very well and the organic fruits and vegetables obtained from it shared among everyone without any caste and discrimination, and it is clear that a situation has developed which is a relief to the household economy. The space was provided for this occasion at the house of one of our members Mrs. Sunitha.
