With the generous patronage of The Asia Foundation, a leadership training program for young men and women working in garment factories was successfully conducted in Vavuniya on
The program was organized with the resource contribution of Ms. Nalani Subhasinghe, Vavuniya District Coordinator of the RED organization. Ms. Subhasinghe, who represented the RED organization in the Training of Trainers (ToT) program under the “Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership – Sri Lanka (RWVL-SL)” project, was trained as a “Master Trainer” and facilitated this session. Sponsored by the relevant project, the event was successfully held on September 06, 2026, at the RED branch office located in Moondimurippu, Vavuniya.
The primary objective of this program was to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and understanding of essential leadership attributes, including self-awareness, communication skills, team management, conflict resolution, decision-making, problem-solving, vision, and strategy. Furthermore, the program aimed to foster a just society built on ethics and responsibility.
Conducted in an interactive, discussion-based format, the session provided a platform for participants to raise questions and engage with real-life examples. The program emphasized the importance of conquering the world of work while highlighting the values of national unity and reconciliation.
Through this initiative, young men and women working in garment factories in Vavuniya gained valuable knowledge and opportunities necessary to develop their skills through correct leadership.
