An another RED Organization’s CSR Response to Cyclone Dithwa

In response to Cyclone Dithwa’s devastation in Sri Lanka on November 28, 2025, RED Organization launched a two-phased humanitarian initiative for affected communities in the Katunayake zone. The cyclone and flooding severely impacted the FTZ region, particularly displacing vulnerable migrant workers in boarding houses who lost access to food, water, and services. Despite challenging conditions, RED successfully distributed emergency relief packages containing dry rations, sanitary products, clothing, and ready-to-eat meals to address the immediate survival needs of this isolated population.

Building on this initial emergency response, RED Organization extended its support to address the longer-term educational needs of the community’s children, who were also deeply impacted by the disaster. Recognizing that the path to recovery requires nurturing the next generation, RED organized a special distribution of school supplies for 60 flood-affected children from the Amandoluwa and Walana schools, comprising 20 boys and 20 girls. The ceremony, held on February 15th, 2026, at the RED head office premises, saw the children arrive in full school uniform with their parents to receive essential educational materials, including exercise books, school bags, shoes, and other stationery. The event was headed by RED Directress, Ms. Chandra Devanarayana, alongside two teachers from the beneficiary schools. In her address to the attendees, Ms. Devanarayana explained the organization’s enduring commitment to social responsibility and the motivation behind the initiative. She encouraged the children to utilize the gifts optimally for their studies, urging them to aspire beyond the challenging circumstances of their parents and to build a brighter future. The initiative was widely appreciated for its thoughtful execution and the dedication of the RED staff. Through these coordinated efforts from immediate disaster relief to supporting children’s education RED Organization has provided a holistic and compassionate response to the crisis, reinforcing its role as a pillar of support for the Katunayake  Zonal working community with special concerning widows and single mothers
